The saber-toothed tiger, also known as Smilodon, was a large, carnivorous mammal that lived during the Pleistocene from about 2.5 million to 12,000 years ago and was characterized by its long, curved canine teeth. It was a powerful predator with strong forelimbs and a robust build, which allowed it to take down large prey.
